Back in the game

After five months of moving house, birthdays, christmas and getting lazy, fatter and more unfit, it’s time to get back to the gym and back to Cake Upton!

At the end of October my boyfriend and I started to dedicate more time to our real lives and less time to our gym lives, (quite rightly) prioritising looking for a new flat over press ups, and after moving into our great new flat, the distance between us and the gym took it’s toll. Okay, we’re now a 15 minute walk away rather than 5, but thats not really an excuse is it? Especially when there’s a bus stop practically outside our house and a car in the carpark.

We thought about cancelling our memberships and moving to a gym much closer to home to get us back into the swing of things, but having finally completed the transition from scared gym newbie to feeling comfortable with the machines, routines and staff at our current one, I wasn’t crazy about that idea. Plus our gym had a pool and the new one didn’t, and back in September I was swimming every day and didn’t fancy giving up the possibility of getting back to that.

So here we are: it’s been three weeks since I got myself back into the gym and back in the fitness mindset, and so far I’m loving every minute of it. It feels a lot different this time (which I’ll get round to explaining!) so hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up in a more manageable way this time, rather than going balls to the wall for six months, dropping off the wagon entirely for another six and then starting all over again, all the way back at the point I first started at..
